Learning in Term 4 2015

Our main WIT for Term 4 has been around "Making Music" We are thinking about what the key words and phrases mean!

We are wondering about what "Design" means
I decided to make a maracca from paper plates

Then we tried paper cups

We experimented with many different ideas.

Now I am trying to make a string instrument.

Here we are decorating our instruments.
We are checking our "shakers" to ensure they sound good!
Here we are ready to perform for Junior Assembly.

Halloween art!

We are ready for our play "Crumpet the cat!"

We have been learning to identify fractions

In this game we are practicing our doubles to 20

In October I moved up 2 reading levels to Purple 1

Whoopee, I have moved up 2 reading levels!

I am in the same reading group as Wyatt and Anna.

We choose our own books from the purple level.
We also choose our own Home Learning activity.

We can choose activities like thinking maps (flow charts, compare and contrast) or designing things, finding interesting verbs and adjectives or just drawing the characters or the setting.
Just whatever suits our book.

Matching pictures with the correct equation.
Another way we practice reading!
This is my paper mache mask that I made

We made amazing masks.

We followed the directions fromWyatts reading book.

It took us all term to prepare our masks for painting!

I love writing

This is my last writing for 2015!

Swimming with Cecille

Even Susan swam with us.

I read with Wyatt.

We choose our books and our own follow-up activities for our home learning.

We are following instructions about how to make a penguin from Rosie's book.

These are the penguins we made.

To remember the soldiers who died in the wars we put our flowers on the Cenotaph

Each cross has the name of a soldier who died in the war. These soldiers just came from New Plymouth

 Big Bubbles

This is the bubble pipe I made first.
Then we made bigger circles to make bigger bubbles.

And here I am trying to make the biggest bubble

I read our card to Susan on support staff day

I am reading using the netbook.

The whole class made fish kites. The directions were in my book.

My favourite maths game.

We are reading in Room 5

My cross competency award this time was for being a wise owl because I was checking my painting that we used for our puppet play about Rona and the Moon.

We made puppets to learn about how to make puppet retell of a story

Book week and we all dressed up as a book character. It was a fun day.

I am writing my story on the computer and then we publish it.

I loved the tie I made for Dad... I hope you do too Dad!

I did a cooperative painting with Leilani. We modeled our painting on a starry night painted by A famous painter called Vincent Van Goph. We did this as part of the celebration of Puanga.

I am running fast in the cross country race.
Mrs H said she liked the way I added my personal feelings to my writing!

My ladybird

Painting our flower
Then we added layers. Tina helped me.

We are practicing writing letters correctly
In Room 2 these are one of our values.

And this is my example of "thinking about others!"
We made these pictures using wet chalk

We love going to the hall for our PMP activities

I am making a tank

I made a marshmellow penguin. YUM

Today Jackson and I got the cross competency awards
Thinking about adding with numbers to 10.
Rosie and I are finding the right equations
